Mind of Christ >>
These are a couple of wise questions a person can ask oneself in order to have a discernment of all things.
I Cor 2:11 – 16
The spirit of man is apart from God’s Spirit and is the deepest part of a man’s being. The spirit of the man knows the things of a man, whereas, the mind of the man knows things superficially and has knowledge of certain things. Thus, the human spirit which is God conscious is also a solution giver to man’s real needs. Similarly, the Holy Spirit knows the things of God and therefore, to understand God with human intellect is foolishness.
In this portion of the scriptures, we know as believers, we have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit of God through whom we know the things that we have been given graciously by God. Since, we don’t have the spirit of the world; we should not try to speak with human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual things with spiritual words. Hallelujah. The verse I Cor 2:14, clearly states that a Soulish man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God because for him it will seem foolishness and neither can he understand them as he lacks spiritual discernment.
Soulish Man
A soulish man is a natural man who has a dominant soul over his spirit. A human soul is nothing but the combination of mind, will, and emotions as explained inthe Bible. The mind is the human intellect, the will is the faculty to decide and an intention to perform certain actions, and the emotional faculty which gives rise to various emotions in a person. So, a soulish person, having given the reigns of his life to the soul, sees his spirit which knows all things of a man suppressed, therefore preventing the fulfillment of the real needs of a man. This kind of a living seems very fine to a soulish person as he is not using his spirit to know the things of the Holy Spirit which seems foolishness to his worldly mind.
In order for man to receive the things of the Spirit, first, he has to acknowledge that he has received the Spirit of God. With this belief, he can be spiritual by denying the soul, and give the control to the spirit (which knows the things of the man) over his soul (i.e., mind, will and emotions). This is not easy; what the Bible says in a subtle way is for you to have a highly energized and a highly fruitful spiritual living. With such a fine spiritual life, a person can keep aside his intellect, will and all the emotions that govern him and think spiritually by discerning the things of the Spirit with the help of the indwelling Holy Spirit.
Being in the Spirit
Being in the Spirit is living in the presence of God, I mean literally. Our living should be in the knowledge that the Lord is a living God, dwelling in us as the Spirit and is also Omnipresent. The more degree of our belief in the literal presence of God, the more we are in the Spirit (Read Your Rightful Freedom in Christ by Johnny Yo). Such a living will push back the soul, along with its inferior knowledge of the things of man and give control to the real part that will give us true freedom and peace in our living.
I am not proposing this as some sort of mental exercise, rather something that you have to experience in reality. We, as believers have received the Spirit of God in our spirit and under this setup, we have to live in the reality of the Christ, believing in Him always. Hallelujah, such a living is possible because we have the mind of Christ (I Cor 2:16). This is the secret brothers and sisters; the crux of this message - to know the power that is in you. Just for a few minutes, pray to the Lord to show His mind and try to meditate what the Lord’s mind would be. ‘He is the second Person of the Trinity, the Word of God, who is the owner of everything. He is connected to the Father, and He and the Father are one. He came down to Earth, dwelt among us. Further, He died, resurrected and ascended to the right hand of God. Such a Person’s mind is in me. Hallelujah.’ I already feel like a King and my thinking is broadening because of the Lord’s mind and I know my life is in the hands of the Almighty and absolutely nothing can touch me. Amen.
